The rationale for the UCS came initially to upgrade the mid-range competitions that are propagating at present. There are extremely diverse standards of how the fighters are treated and it should be remembered that the fighters are the lynch-pin on how events are perceived. We have been to events where the ‘away’ fighters are placed into inferior changing rooms, with little room to tape up hands, change into kit or warm up. Post-fight, we have witnessed cheap trophies handed over, with no engraving to mark the event for the fighter. Then there have been cases of particularly poor payments awarded to fighters who have trained and fought hard while the promoter has charged impressive prices for tickets. It does not take a great leap of imagination to realise that the fighters are integral to the spectator experience.

So now let us turn to the fee paying spectators. When people come to UCS events they can be assured that they will be entertained. We create events that from the moment it starts, it fluidly moves from one particular entertainment to another. Whether the entertainment is the fights themselves, or the ‘mini events’ that help form the continuity of the whole show.
